Opening the Immigration Doors

Biden wants to raise the cap for asylum seekers to 125,000 for fiscal year 2021 (Fiscal year because it is about money and budgets – not humanity!)

He is increasing immigration and opening the door – even though he has asked his Vice President to “get to the root of the immigration problem.”  (I’ve written about this issue – and the root is derived from a very liberal government that provides large amount of funds – along with food, shelter, education, etc.  Too bad they don’t require new US refugee citizens to WORK!)

First let me say that I believe immigration is good for a country – as long as those immigrating are doing so for productive opportunity and will not become a burden to the economy or society.

In 2019 Trump set the Asylum cap at 30,000 and it was filled.

In 2020 – The cap was 18,000 but only 3,000 were granted.

Why raise the cap to 125,000? – Is this to allow more immigrants to be granted permanent legal status – even though they may not qualify for asylum?

Asylum or “Refugee” is not easily proven and is very subjective.

Perspective:  In 2019 there were 1.03 Million people granted permanent residence (Green Card) in the US.

21.3% were Students/Children

8.6 % were “homemakers”

7.3% were Unemployed

The others varied in type of occupation held when granted residence.

This means that 37.2% or 383,160 people were granted permanent residence – without being productive for the US economy.  (Note: Sure there may be a homemaker with an Etsy account making money and paying taxes – but that would likely be very rare!)

So – the borders will be re-opened following closure due to the Pandemic – and the cap for allowing people into the country has been raised.  But it will fall far short from the long lines of people wanting to enter the US.

Questions to ask:

? How many will be relatives of others previously provided citizenship?

? How many will be relatives of those provided permanent status? (Green cards)

? How many will be turned away and not allowed to enter?

? How many allowed to enter will be productive US citizens?
