Update on Covid numbers!

I haven’t worked on the Covid numbers in a while – with the media talking about Oregon & WaSt – and Louisiana removing the mask mandate – I figured – let’s take a look:

Louisiana – (1/1/2020 – 4/28/2021) (this is the totals at CDC)

Age / Covid Deaths / Total Deaths Jan20-Apr21 / Total Deaths in 2019

0-17 / 0 / 858 / 882

18-29 / 35 / 1621 / 871

30-39 / 117 / 2346 / 1467

40-49 / 286 / 3309 / 2061

50-64 / 1613 / 13504 / 9008

65-74 / 2356 / 15813 / 9664

75-84 / 2699 / 17244 / 10761

85+ / 2166 / 17139 / 11224

Note: The Total Deaths in the Covid range equals 16 months, the 2019 deaths is 12 months. (Just for indication) (You can divide by the months if you want to estimate the increase in deaths in Louisiana)

Covid has had an effect – but deaths are increasing from other causes as well. This may be due to an aging population – or limited access to healthcare, or people are just not taking care of themselves as in the past. (note the population of Louisiana is decreasing, and has for the past 5 years – therefore it isn’t due to increase in population)The CDC Wonder (data site) has data on causes of death if anyone is interested – https://wonder.cdc.gov/LikeCommentShare
