This just in – Biden says the Ottoman Empire performed genocide on Armenians in WWI. (Why is Biden involved with this issue – when there have been 177 people murdered in Chicago – Just in the past 4 months!)
Wait – was WWI over 100 years ago? – And is there an Ottoman Empire? (I don’t see them as a member of the UN?) What happened during war to a group of people who didn’t agree with the Central Government is terrible. –
But – this happened in North America to a group of people who’s ancestors still live in the US. (Note- read this article on the history – https://archive.nytimes.com/…/topics_armeniangenocide…
So – if a minority group of US citizens can cause the US President to seemingly sever ties with a European Ally – then maybe other groups should force the issue of recognizing historical injustice!
How about recognizing that the English kidnapped and persecuted the French Acadians – breaking up families and dispersing them throughout the US Colonies and Caribbean Islands – where many worked in slavery type conditions in places like Haiti – in which the French Govt, (in cahoots with the English based on the Treaty of Paris signed in 1763.) The US Colonies actually gave credence to traffickers who were selling passage to Acadians to places like St Domingue (present day Haiti) – even through the island already paid for passage. And when arriving were “impressed” into servitude by the government – where children and parents alike died from lack of care.
So – where’s the “Official Recognition” for a persecuted Acadiana Peoples that are part of the United States History? (and not something that happened in Europe)
