Working from home. I’ve been doing this for well over a decade. Yet many have been forced to work from home due to the pandemic.
There are many positives in working from home. I’ll not go into those here.
What I do know is there is much less burden on a community infrastructure. And, less impact on traffic accidents, wear and tear of public systems.
An estimated 57% of the US workforce is conducting work virtually (some are not home as they have learned there are many ways to work virtually from various locations – ie. you need internet connection)
So – here is a brilliant (I’m being facetious) idea from Germany – and the writer of the article even suggested the US do the same thing.
They want to assess a 5% tax on anyone working from home.
??? REALLY???
And the reasoning boggles my mind – the purpose for the tax is due to “less” use of infrastructure – and to help pay for various services of others who can’t work from home.

I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of a more Socialist Tax?
This means – if you don’t use services and don’t put a burden on community infrastructure – then you must pay more?
So – instead of saying “There will be less burden on budgets, thus Community, State, & Federal Budgets may be adjusted to provide support for those who are required to work (Co-Located). Instead of reducing budgets that are not being used – the reasoning is to simply raise more taxes on those who stop using the services!
This is going to be the basics of Socialism – raise taxes to pay for new programs – even though old programs don’t need funding, or as much funding. Socialism is all about taking money from hard working people – and spreading it out to others – whether they need it or not.
In this philosophy – government employment would continue to rise along with taxes.
Note: I do believe there are people who must work co-located due to the nature of their jobs (Health, Security, Manufacturing, Labor, etc) – And there are many burdens placed on society due to transportation etc. Thus the reason for budgeting programs to manage such systems. But the appropriate response would be – Shift budgets – don’t just add more tax!
