Do you Twitter? – I see many “news” articles today that reference “twitter” – so lets look at the company and its users:
First – only 22% of US Adults have a twitter account. (34% Female, 66% Male)
There are 262 million accounts outside of the US – which make up 79% of all Twitter accounts.
Of those who are active users – only 42% are on daily.
Analysis – there are many US users – but many more foreign users who are influencing US users. Especially when 80% of Twitter users are “affluent millennials” (ie. easily influenced generation!)
Twitter Company facts:

Who is using the service, what are they saying, and who are they reaching? (Another good question: How easy is it to hack and misrepresent who is tweeting – ie. Is that really a person saying what is being said? – is it the real person.
On the heels of a 20th century influenced with Marxism – our technologies of the 21st century are exploiting the state of mind for many in the United States – with the central concepts of social stratification and the location and diffusion of power in the social (and political) sciences comes straight from Marx’s insights. And yet we see Keynesian philosophy dominate the US political systems in a similar way as Marx intimated – through planned control of society.
Freudians are loving the results of social and political changes in the US- where society is driven by internal emotional needs – needs for recognition, authority, self-expression.
Big Data in Social Science allows for studying large amounts of data to try and predict behavior. “The problem as it is stated by mature social scientists is to use computers in ways in which they are best fitted but without falling into the fallacy that they can alone guide, direct, and supply vital perspective in the study of human beings.” (Nisbet, Robert A., 1978) https://www.britannica.com/topic/social-science
